Figure Studies + My Theme

I just love it that this week's theme is figure studies. I decided to do some nude ones first and, since it would hurt my pride (!? XD) to ask anyone to undress in front of me, I referenced from some stock photos by Lockstock, whose photos are a figure artist's DREAM.

There were more... But they pretty much sucked. XD

Oh, and since I was unable to post a free-themed drawing last Sunday, I made one yesterday too:

Speaking of the human figure, though, I have to recommend this book which my boyfriend gave me last January: "How to Draw the Human Figure" by Raynes and Raynes. It's great!
I love how its chapters are divided into progressively more complicated concepts, allowing me to develop my skill as I go along. I'm still far from the end, but so far I believe this has got to be the most helpful art book I own.

Inspiring, too, especially when it encourages you to go on drawing no matter how messy it gets because "it is what you learn while making the drawing that matters".

:teary eyes: how true, oh how true!

Remind me to give my boyfriend one big, sloppy kiss for this book when we see each other again. <3

  1. I'll have to check out that book. I'm horrid at drawing the human form...so I'm a little gun shy on this weeks Theme.

I'll make up for it though! Eventually.

  2. @Spacecase Aww, i'm sure it's not that bad. The doodle challenge was to help us improve our skills so I hope you've been drawing anyway. XD
